The third time is the charm!
New York City will begin offering the vaccine to NYPD officials starting Monday – as the state opens eligibility for the next priority group.
The department’s medical division will begin firing on Randall Island, Rodman’s Neck, Floyd Bennett Field, the Police Academy and the 121 Precinct station house between 6:00 and 18:00, according to a Finest message sent to the force.
The orders will notify the police when they can receive the vaccine, the messages add.
The announcement comes two days after Governor Andrew Cuomo stopped the City Hall’s attempt to move police to the line, labeling them as the first nurses.
In December, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said police officers would be eligible for the vaccine, but the state supply delayed the launch.
Shea gave positive results to the pandemic bug on Friday morning, officials said. Nearly 500 police officers have already contracted COVID in 2021, police officials said.
