This year’s crimes exceed those that took place in 2020 by the same date, according to official police statistics.
As of Sunday, April 4, 167 homicides were reported, seven more than those reported on the same date in 2020.
There were five murders this weekend.
On Friday, 30-year-old Ángel Cruz Medina, a resident of Juana Díaz, was shot in front of a pig farm in the Guayabal neighborhood.
Four homicides on Saturday
Edmill De León García was shot and killed Saturday around 1:30 p.m., at her workplace at the Yess Motel in Carolina.
Another homicide was reported on Morales Street, at Station 20, in Santurce. At that place, the shot body of a man was found, who has not yet been identified.
On the other hand, around 11:11 pm on Saturday on Highway 1, kilometer 122.6 in Ponce, Josean Crespo Rodríguez, 31, was shot and killed.
The fifth murder took place on La Porte Boulevard, Las Vías district, in the Borinquen district of Guayama. Ernesto Montañez Amil, 31, was shot on the spot.
