The NFL has laid the groundwork for election no. 10 a Cowboys

The NFL project is next week and the teams are doing their best to come up with strategies to build their lists for the 2021 season.

This is normally the time when the phones start ringing about moving up or down in the project and with option no. 10 in their possession, the Dallas Cowboys are in a welcoming place to receive some calls. Executive Vice President Stephen Jones recently joined the K&C masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan, and when asked if teams have started hitting Cowboy’s phone lines, he said so.

“Indeed, it’s just starting to grow in terms – I’m sure the top is hot because you could – I’ve already seen that a transaction has been made,” Jones said. “But probably where we sit, we start getting a few calls and I think it will only take over as we approach Thursday. It will only lift. Finally I give you the phone call, “hey, if our guy is there, we’d be interested in moving on” and maybe we’d even like to complete a few things, like what would be needed and that kind of thing. So you start to find yourself in a way that you are prepared by a certain team that can call its player, whether it is a defender or a linebacker or a defensive player. They won’t usually divulge this, which shouldn’t surprise you. But they say, “hey, we have a player, two or three, that if I’m there, we might be willing to be aggressive and offer you something to move on to that choice.”

Cowboys would trade down, instead of rising, if the right offer materializes. A situation in which a team was looking to move to select a defender or say that a rival in the division looking to target a certain player would probably require a bonus for Dallas to move away from the spot. Getting a future first-round pick may or may not be possible, but a second-round pick could serve them well.

This could give the Cowboys a shot to get a top corner defender, plus an elite safety. while also allowing them to approach the inside of their defensive line with the 44th choice.

There are many configurations that could turn the reward from finishing as one of the worst teams in 2020 into multiple perspectives.
