The new Pokemon Sword and Shield trailer highlights the inhabitants of the Galar region

While Pokemon Sword and Shield released more than a year ago on the Nintendo Switch, in 2020 a significant amount of new content was released for the game. Armor Island and Crown Tundra DLC has expanded the game in a major way, adding new areas to explore, new story content and new Pokemon to capture. Some of these Pokemon are older favorites, while others are completely new to the franchise. To celebrate the DLC, Nintendo has released a new trailer for Sword and shield, shining a spotlight on the content that players can find as part of the expansion.

The completely new trailer of the game can be found embedded below.

Most games in the main Pokemon franchise have received a “third version” over the years, adding content that was not in the original version. For Pokemon Sword and Shield, The Pokemon company has instead chosen to launch a DLC expansion, so that players who have already enjoyed the game can continue their adventure with their current team. Armor Island and Crown Tundra both have been available for some time, but in the absence of a new Pokemon game this year, it makes sense to see Nintendo still promoting the release!

Next year will mark 25 years since Red and Green Pokemonits launch in 1996. It is obvious that previously announced games such as New Pokemon Snap and the sequel to the Nintendo Switch Detective Pikachu both could be released next year. It is also possible that the next generation of Pokemon games may be released. If this proves to be the case, fans can expect to see a full revelation sometime in the next few months. However, for now, fans will simply have to enjoy the content currently available!

Pokemon Sword and Shield is now available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. You can check out all of our previous game covers right here.
