Even though Bungie is best known (at present) for his work Destiny 2, it happens that the studio is now trying to hide another project in secret. And, although it could be literally years before the company is ready to reveal exactly what that new game might be, it seems that some of the first details about the upcoming title have started to come in a pretty round way.
Bungie’s career page recently published a list of jobs for a designer of multiplayer incubation systems at the company. Although this does not seem very important at first glance, the description of the role is where things get interesting. The studio says it is looking for a candidate with a background in multiplayer PvP games to be specific. The post goes on to point out that increased familiarity with e-sports is also a necessary skill for the person who gets hired. In addition, it is said that experience with working on a live game on “multiple platforms” is required.
Although there is not a lot of work left in this job, we can deduce a lot that anything that could work Bungie will have a major multiplayer element. Although Destiny 2 features multiplayer PvP, the game has never been one really known for this aspect. Moreover, it has never been a title that people really consider an export in the slightest case.
Seeing how Bungie returns to a new game that has a vital multiplayer component is quite interesting, given the history of the studio in space. Even though it no longer works in the Halo franchise, Bungie revolutionized the first-person multiplayer shooter genre with his work in the series more than a decade ago. If he could somehow capture the same magic once again with a new property, you should imagine that many fans would be very much on board. However, it will probably be quite some time before we get to see what this new IP is yet, so let’s not give up too much.
