Family and friends say his name is Albert Maynard and he was over 60 years old.
“It is absolutely heartbreaking. I just saw Al yesterday. He comforted me about my father. So, however, she will really miss him “, said the neighbor next door, Lagenia Williams.
For Williams, knowing that her neighbor has left, she gets too close to home.
“I have known Al for over 40 years. We were neighbors and we lived in this neighborhood all our lives “, she said.
When the crews came to fight the fire, they took him out of the house and tried to save his life.
He was taken to Bayfront Health, where he died.
Investigators say it was not the only loss of life.
“It simply came to our notice then. It looks like the area of origin of the fire will be the kitchen area. A dead dog was also found inside the house. They were the only two in the house, “said St. Petersburg’s lieutenant fire marshal Steven Lawrence.
