The municipality of Ponce offers incentives to its traders

The Mayor of Ponce, María „Mayita” Meléndez Altieri, reported today, Monday, that it provided an economic incentive of $ 750 to 80 small businesses to further alleviate their economic situation after the recent earthquakes that affected the municipality and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We recognize that disruptions to operations and losses in infrastructure have severely affected our businesses and that, in many cases, they lack the funds to continue or resume operations. For this reason, whenever help is available for small businesses, which have been most affected, we fulfill our responsibility to help them, “said the mayor in written statements.

In addition to economic incentives, the autonomous municipality of Ponce has granted in recent months exemptions from municipal patent payments, supported by completing applications and referrals to the Department of Economic Development and Trade for economic incentives, presented the program “Reopening my business” where he offered assistance and guidance and also served as a liaison for business recommendations and guidance to other entities in the business ecosystem.

“In addition, we have asked Governor Wanda Vázquez to make a multisectoral effort to rebuild Ponce and the southern region, and we have set up a service center with municipal employees to provide support in accelerating unemployment and PUAs,” said Meléndez Altieri. .

He added, “although the challenges we faced have exceeded what we could have anticipated, Ponce continues to fight, resilient and aiming at the reconstruction and revitalization that characterizes Ciudad Señorial.”
