CES isn’t usually a big show for smartphones, but that hasn’t stopped Motorola from giving the entire Moto G line a refresh to start the year, along with a new version of Motorola’s most affordable 5G phone.

With the arrival of the new Moto G family and the new Moto One 5G Ace, Motorola will have a wide range of brands New phones for virtually every price category under $ 400.

Motorola has relaunched the Moto G Play, which starts at $ 170, as the most affordable phone of the group and, although it is quite simple, it has the majority essentials covered. You have a 6.5-inch 1600 x 720 display (yes, this is HD, not full HD), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 chip, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, a microSD card slot and a fairly large 5,000 mAh battery.

From left to right, we have Moto G Play, Moto G Stylus, Moto G Power and Moto One 5G Ace.

There’s also a fingerprint sensor built into the Motorola logo on the back and what appears to be dual cameras, but it’s actually one-The Moto G Play has a 13 MP main camera and a 2 MP depth camera to help with portrait photos. And to round it all off, the Moto G Play has a relatively sturdy matte plastic back with light water resistance designed to protect against small leaks or rain.

Then we come to what might be my favorite phone from the group, Moto G Power, which retains the same 5,000 mAh battery used in Moto G Play, but adds slightly better specifications. Depending on where you get it, the G Power will be available in two configurations: a $ 200 model with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, or a $ 250 model with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.

Whatever configuration you choose, the G Power also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor, a slightly larger 6.6-inch display, 1600 x 720, a microSD card tray and three rear cameras (48-MP main , 2 MP macro and a 2 MP depth camera). To me, Power G it hits the budget and can cover most bases without adding a lot of extra pockets, though I would have liked to see Motorola include either an ultra-wide camera or a telephoto lens instead of that macro lens.

Then it is The Moto G stylus, which starts at $ 300 and does your best to be a a much more affordable alternative to Samsung’s top range Galaxy Note line. That’s because while a stylus is included (hidden in a convenient slot on the side of the phone), it doesn’t have any additional wireless buttons or features, like those on Samsung S-Pens.

As the name suggests, the Moto G Stylus comes with a smartphone included.

Tyou support all your drawings and notes.needs to refresh Moto Notes while enlarging G Stylus display to 6.8-inch FHD + screen with GStylus also gets a small increase in performance power G with a Snapdragon 678 chip and 4 GB RAM and 128 GB standard storage. However, with a battery of less than 4,000 mAh (and a larger screen), don’t expect the life of the G Stylus battery to be as good as its less expensive siblings.

However, in the back the G Stylus has three real cameras: a 48 MP main camera, 8 MP ultra-wide camera and 2 MP macro camera (plus a fourth depth sensor). And instead of Rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, both G Power and G Stylus have side-mounted fingerprint readers, located just below the power button and the volume control button on the right.

Finally, although technically not part of the Moto G family, there is also the new Moto One 5G Ace. Starting at $ 400, the Moto One 5 Ace is now Motorola’s cheapest 5G phone and $ 100 less than the original Moto One 5G (which was launched last fall), although it comes with the warning that it only supports sub-6Ghz 5G and not even faster mmWave 5G. Except for that little detail, the rest of the Moto One 5G Ace specifications looks pretty good for the money. This one comes with a Snapdragon 750G chip, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage and a large 5,000 mAh battery, some retailers also offering a model with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage.

In front, there is a 6.7-inch 2400 x 1080 FHD + display and a 16 MP selfie camera (which G Stylus also receives), while in the back it has a camera configuration similar to G Stylus, with a 48 MP, 8 MP main camera, ultra-wide camera and 2 MP macro camera.

All this with the new Moto One 5G Ace and the Moto G family, it seems that Motorola is trying to swallow even more of the budget and the mid-range phone market. Moto may have made too many phones, because if you look at their specifications and features, there aren’t as many differences between models as you might expect.

But there are some nice consistencies on all these phones, including keeping a 3.5mm audio jack, a clean general version on Android, and improvements to a lot of basic apps and features, such as Moto night mode.

However, I still find it strange that while the Moto One 5G has support for NFC, which you have to use for applications like Google Pay, Motorola has omitted the addition of NFC to any of the less expensive Moto G phones. But what could be even more annoying is that all these phones will arrive with Android 10 and not with Android 11, which was officially launched in September. And while Moto says it will offer an update to Android 11 sometime in the future, this is the only major update for Android that any of these phones are scheduled to receive, which is a real inconvenience for anyone thinking of keeping these phones More than one year .

But if you’re looking for a new budget phone, Moto start the year by giving you a bunch of options. The new Moto G and Moto One Ace 5G families will be available unlocked from a number of retailers starting January 14.
