The military policeman dies while serving his shift at Támara Prison

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.- A military police officer lost his life on Friday night, January 15, when he was allegedly attacked by a detainee at the Támara prison, in the Amarateca valley, a few kilometers from the Honduran capital.

The deceased was identified as Pedro Lopez Vasquez (26), who was originally from the municipality of Santa Elena, La Paz and was assigned to the fifth battalion of the Military Police of Public Order (PMOP).

Other earlier reports indicated that the tragic death occurred during a riot in the penitentiary, so while officers tried to detain the prisoners, López Vásquez was unexpectedly shot.
