The Mets bought him right-hander Jordan Yamamoto from Marlins on Monday in exchange for Dominican outfielder Federico Polanco.
Yamamoto, 24, was 4-5 with an ERA of 4.46 and 82 hits in 15 starts for Fish in 2019. The right-hander was third in the majority, controlling opponents at an average of .191 and 6.18 hits in every nine innings behind Justin Verlander (.172, 5.53) and Gerrit Cole (.186, 6.02).
In 2020, Yamamoto was 0-1 in four appearances (three as a starter) in 11.1 innings. In his two-year major career, he has 4-6 with 81 hits in 90 innings.
Polanco, 19, hits .244 with 20 doubles and 50 RBIs in two minor league seasons.
