The Mets sign Taijuan Walker to start the rotation

The Mets agreed to the terms of starting pitcher Taijuan Walker, according to several reports.

Joel Sherman of the Post reported that the transaction is for three years and $ 23 million, with the third year as a player option. If Walker refuses the option, the transaction will be for two years, at 20 million dollars. The agreement is waiting for a physicist.

Walker, 28, appeared in 108 games over eight MLB seasons with the Diamondbacks, Mariners and Blue Jays. Throughout his career, he compiled 3.84 ERAs in 581.2 innings.

Walker was operated by Tommy John in 2018 while he was with the Diamondbacks and appeared in a single game in 2019. He returned to the Mariners in 2020 and was changed in the middle of the season to the Blue Jays.

In his first full season back after surgery, Walker recorded an ERA of 2.70 in 11 starts, his second-best mark in a season just 2014. He will likely participate in the Mets rotation with Jacob DeGrom , Carlos Carrasco, Marcus Stroman and Noah Syndergaard when he returns from Tommy John’s operation.
