The Mets put the West Indian outfielder in charge

New York Mets they nominated veteran Cuban outfielder Guillermo Heredia for the award. The move was made to create a place on the list of 40 people for the experienced outfield. Kevin “Superman” Pillar, whose contract with the team is now official and formal.

“El Conde” Heredia appeared in seven games for the Mets after claiming him since giving up the Pirates in August. In total, the West Indian patrol hit .212 / 278 / .394 in 36 plate appearances for Pittsburgh and New York.

Not far behind with the numbers (.240 / .317 / .342) Heredia has posted in the previous four seasons in the major leagues, in over 1,110 clashes with the Seattle Mariners (2016-18) and Tampa Rays Bay (2019 ).

The 30-year-old can provide depth in all three off-field positions, so the Mets certainly hope that Heredia will remain in place and can remain in the farming system as a backup option in the event of an injury.

The Mets are pretty full of outfield – outfield – options on the active roster, but Heredia and star guest Mallex Smith are projected as the first Triple-A man if a replacement is needed.
