The Metroid LEGO Ideas Pitch presentation recreates Samus, Ridley and many more

The LEGO Ideas program allows users to design original concepts, and a Nintendo fan used it to launch an amazing set based on the Metroid franchise. Created by user L-DI-EGO, the set will feature Samus Aran and her iconic Gunship, a captive Metroid, Ridley, two zebra space pirates and a mysterious figure that will be revealed when the page reaches 9900 fans. It looks just as impressive as the Zelda LEGO Ideas design, which has also received a lot of attention lately. Clearly, Nintendo fans are looking for more LEGO sets after the Mario line that debuted last year!

An image of the set can be found below, and more images can be found on the LEGO Ideas page right here.

Overall, the design is really interesting! Samus’ gunship looks pretty faithful to the one that appears in the series, and the Zebaz Space Pirates also looked fantastic. While the image above shows two colors for the creatures, the design page shows a number of alternative color options based on different games. Samus himself is also pretty well represented in LEGO form. The design page of the L-DI-EGO presents a series of potential looks for the Samus helmet, the ideal one being a completely new part, unlike an existing LEGO piece.

Of course, the biggest highlight here has to be Ridley. Samus ‘long-standing nemesis is one of the most iconic elements of the franchise and probably Samus’ biggest enemy (though it’s a Mother Brain throw). It’s hard to imagine a creature-free Metroid set, and it’s great to see it represented here. According to L-DI-EGO, the Ridley design uses BIONICLE / Mixel ball joints, which they tested with real parts, to ensure that the bastard would be robust enough.

The Metroid franchise has a loyal fan base, but it’s hard to say whether or not it will gain the attention it needs to succeed. The page currently has 7,091 supporters and will need 10,000 before LEGO can consider it. However, the L-DI-EGO set still has 514 days to reach this goal, so if you want to see the design considered, go to their page and show your support!
