The urban merenguero Kike Mangú was killed in a traffic accident last Friday under unspecified circumstances, people close to the family reported.
In unofficial information, a source, Listín Diario, explained that the singer was driving a heavy truck, as part of the company operating in New York, and recorded a traffic accident in which he received blows to the chest and face.
“They took him to the hospital in an ambulance for emergency surgery, here in New York, where they tried to operate on him to save his life, but he didn’t resist,” said the person close to his family who used the information provided.
José Enrique Rodríguez, real name of the merenguero, He lived in the United States for many years, especially in New York, from where he founded his surgery center.
Henry Brand, of the production company Henry Management, told Listín Diario that the accident occurred between two heavy trucks, which collided head-on.
“The accident was early next Friday,” said Henry, who said the other driver survived, and although Kike was still alive at the time, he later died in hospital.
“According to his mother, they took him to the hospital and performed several surgeries to save his life, but the doctors were unsuccessful,” said Henry.
Kike Mangú (El Original), who instead of accepting that he was a “street lakes guero”, described himself as a “merenguero of the people”.
Kike took the nickname “Mangú” as a result of the merengue that became popular with that name in 2001 and was the flagship of his career.
The record production of the artist born in the Los Peralejos sector, Santo Domingo Oeste, includes the songs “What do you want me to tell you?”, “La lechuga”, “Give me a night”, “La vanidosa”, “I don’t know what to do with you ”and“ you said it ”.

José Rodríguez, the real name of the merenguero, was educated as a child at the Elila Mena Elementary School of Music, under the General Directorate of Fine Arts.
As a teenager he started in a group after his father, an accordionist, discovered his son’s musical gifts.
After being part of such popular groups as Grupo Mío, Juanchy Vásquez, Orquesta Barceló, Benny Sadel, Tierra Seca, Tulile, among others, where he was an instrumentalist and arranger, Kike decides to start his own musical project which he stayed with for years .
