The massive vaccination site Ford Field COVID launches Wednesday

DETROIT – Officials said the soft opening of the COVID-19 mass vaccination site at Ford Field on Tuesday was a success.

With the site officially opening Wednesday, officials are preparing for everyone, including those with disabilities or limited English.

“We’ve tried to be very considerate when it comes to language access and people with disabilities to make sure we have enough accessible vaccine capsules for people with wheelchairs,” said Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist.

The trial is being coordinated by Meijer’s pharmacy, which said about 360,000 doses will be available in the next eight weeks.
