While the PlayStation 5 officially comes in standard white with a black middle bit, that hasn’t stopped people from modifying their new state-of-the-art consoles afterwards. While there have been many attempts to offer third-party faceplates with varying degrees of legality, the most common customizations seem to be simply changing the basic pattern of white faceplates. Case in point, a Marvel fan went so far as to create a wonderful custom pattern with the Iron Man repellent on the side.
Specifically, Reddit user DGR8EST-1987 recently shared his work on the platform, posting photos of the progress from simply painting the work to adding the repellent itself. Broadly speaking, it appears that the front plates have been removed, painted red, and then an Iron Man repellent night light has been added available on the side, with a few extra details added to make it look like it would break out of the work. For what it’s worth, changing the PlayStation 5’s veneers seems relatively straightforward, but be warned that changing these types of things usually invalidates the warranty. There is also always the possibility of breaking something irreversibly in the process. The PlayStation 5 itself is now available with the version containing a disc drive running $ 499, while the fully digital console costs $ 399 – if you can find any of them in stock.
