ATLANTA (AP) – A man from Georgia said that his former employer owed him a nice penny, $ 915 to be exact, after he left his job in November.
But Andreas Flaten said he was shocked to see his last payment: 90,000 dollars covered in oil or fat at the end of his journey earlier this month, the press reported. Above the pile was an envelope with Flaten’s last payer and an explicit parting message.
“This is a childish thing to do,” Flaten said.
Flaten said he left his job at A OK Walker Autoworks in Peachtree City in November. He said he owed the final check and had difficulty obtaining it, even appealing to the Georgia Department of Labor for help.
In mid-March, Flaten said that as he was leaving the house with his girlfriend, he noticed the pile at the end of his road. He said the money was covered in some kind of oily substance.
Now, his nightly routine is to clean up the money so he can collect it. He said it took him about an hour and a half to clean a few hundred.
“I think there will be a lot of work for the money we have already worked for,” he said. “It’s definitely not fair at all.”
The owner of the store, Miles Walker, spoke briefly with WGCL-TV, stating that he does not know whether or not he threw the money from Flaten’s house.
“I don’t really remember,” Walker told TV. “It doesn’t matter that he was paid, that’s all that matters.”
Walker went on to call Flaten “weenie.”
Flaten’s girlfriend, Olivia Oxley, said she hopes her boyfriend’s story sheds light on how people “are treated so badly by their employers.”
She said the couple stopped being angry and looked at the petty act in a positive light.
“With so much money, we have to find some treasures. I’ve already found one from 1937, “Oxley said. “After the first full shovel, all I could do was laugh because this poor bastard took so long to be vengeful and cruel. We absolutely refused to let him destroy a single moment of ours. “
