“Let’s all go to bed and pray we don’t wake up.”
These were the words of the only Moira Rose – played in the above-ground style by Catherine O’Hara – after she and her disgraced and displaced family arrived at a dirty motel in the Pop TV sitcom “Schitt’s Creek”.
But before the roses gave up their luxurious lives, they lived in a glorious megamansion in Ontario.
Now, the real mansion used in series is for sale for $ 15 million – and it’s magnificent.
Known as La Belle Maison, the house has 12 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, spread over a massive area of 24,000 square meters. It went on the market on January 27, although it has been on the market outside of it in recent years.
The house was built in 2012 in the upscale St Andrew-Winfields district of Toronto. The 0.55-acre property combines old crafts with state-of-the-art luxury facilities from the 21st century.
The three-story house has marble staircases, stunning balconies with railings and carved limestone, and frescoes inspired by the Sistine Chapel.
There are a number of rooms suitable for large-scale entertainment, including a large, formal dining room, a double reception room and a large gourmet kitchen opening onto a private patio. The lower level adds a modern flair suitable for banquet gatherings or private weddings.
Other opulent property features an eight-seat home theater, a wine cellar, a billiards room, a fitness room and both indoor and outdoor pools.
And if that wasn’t enough, it also has a sauna, a games room with a golf simulation system and a 24-hour alarm system.
“Schitt’s Creek” aired from January 2015 to April 2020 and received critical acclaim for its writing, humor and acting. The final season of the series swept all seven major comedy awards at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. The series set a new record for most Emmy wins from a comedy series in a single season, surpassing a record set by Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” in 2018.
