Watch Dogs: Legion, Ubisoft’s open world hacker game, will be available for free on Xbox, PlayStation and PC starting March 25, the developer has announced today in a blog post.
The process will give you full access to the open world of the game. While you can complete Legionthe critical path in less than 20 hours– a lot for a weekend marathon – you have no idea: the free trial will not allow you to progress after the mission of the “Skye Larsen” campaign, which takes place in the middle of the game.
You’ll also be able to test the recently released multiplayer mode, which, while sporadically having fun with friends, is overwhelming if you play with strangers. Earlier today, multiplayer received its first tactical operation (think: cooperative raid-like multiplayer mission), but you won’t be able to give it a try in the process. You will only be able to play the short cooperative missions and the Spiderbot Arena mode.
Ubisoft’s blog post says the free period ends on March 29, but a video has been uploaded to YouTube say will end on March 28. (Update 17:05 ET: In a statement to Kotaku, a spokesman for UbisoftI did not clarify that Legionthe free trial period ends on May 29.)
Beyond today’s free trial, Ubisoft has detailed the summer roadmap Watch Dogs: Legion:
- Next month, Mina, a new hero, will join the game, but will be available only to those who have the season pass.
- In May, the game’s multiplayer mode will receive its second tactical operation.
- Two new competitive modes – Extraction and Invasion – will also become available in May. It is not immediately clear how they will play these modes. Hopefully they feature real people, rather than spider robots.
- The first major expansion of the game will take place in June: Genealogical lines. It will contain two previous characters Watch dogs games: Aiden Pearce (the humorous protagonist of the first game) and Wrench (your comrade disguised as a DJ from Watch Dogs 2). Season ticket holders will be able to play like both.
- In August, season ticket holders will be able to play as Darcy, a member of the Ubisoft Assassin’s Creed assassin’s Creed series.
