The lawyers’ killers left a note with the reasons for their crime

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.- Nine bullet wounds, all hit in the back, were the ones that took the lawyer’s life Indiana Beatriz Castellanos Barahona.

The 49-year-old legal professional was found dead, around 19:00, on Tuesday, in a silver Ford Escape truck with HAZ 0576 plates.

The discovery of the car in apparent abandonment took place on the street that connects the Copacabana residential complex with the peripheral ring, in the Roble Oeste sector, south of the capital.

National Police received the alert by calling 911 that a car with the characteristics described above was parked on the side of the street for more than an hour. Police arrived at the indicated place and confirmed that the citizen alert was correct.

As they approached the vehicle, they learned that it was a woman with her head down and bloodstains visible on her back.

Many hours later

The presence of the police took place a few minutes after 7:00 at night, but the task of opening the car lasted more than four hours since the doors were locked.

In order not to damage the evidence left by the perpetrators at the crime scene, investigators used a locksmith to open the car doors, but the technician arrived around 10:00 at night.

When they opened one of the doors, they were able to verify that the woman was indeed killed by multiple gunshot wounds.

The eye inspection agents of the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI) started the expertise works and found among their documents several that proved the identity of Indiana Beatriz Castellanos Barahona.

A note that provokes suspicion

Among the evidence found inside the Ford Escape pickup truck and very close to the body was a note that read literally “for husbands,” the alleged reason the killers took his life.

Both the eye technicians and the forensic staff who participated in the uprising reported that lawyer Castellanos Barahona received nine projectiles from behind, only one of them with an exit hole.

She remained inert in the passenger seat, suggesting that one or two people accompanied her. In addition, they found a pistol case and a box to deposit it.

Now the missing Indiana Castellanos has been litigating in the private party for about two years, after serving in various positions in the courts and as a judge in several magistrates.

Rommel Martínez, director of IPR, argued that “it would be unwise to advance a certain type of data; Any element that was found inside the vehicle is an element that must be processed and analyzed ”.
