The Los Angeles Lakers have emerged as a strong favorite to score Andre Drummond, a free agent center, sources told ESPN.
The Lakers stars were on Drummond’s track, and the Lakers’ situation gives him the chance to enter the starting line. The player is heading towards finalizing this decision soon, the sources explained.
Drummond, 27, will approve his resignation on Sunday at 5pm ET and can then sign a free agent contract. He became a free agent Friday after making a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Drummond, who has not played since mid-February, began negotiating terms with Cavs on Thursday, after the club failed to change him ahead of schedule.
Drummond, one of the NBA’s best catchers and a proven scorer, had a $ 28.7 million contract this season. He averaged 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in 25 games before the Cavs decided to give Jarrett Allen most of the time.
