KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The general public in Kansas City, Missouri will continue to wait to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Dr. Rex Archer, of the Kansas City Department of Health, said that when designing how many people remain in Phase 1-A, 1-B and levels 1 and 2, the city will not reach level 3, which is all Missouri residents for a while.
“If I’m not in any of those categories, before I reach the general public, I’d be surprised if it’s before May or even June,” said Dr. Rex Archer, director of the KCMO Department of Health. “The message that people need to hear is that Germany, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea controlled this outbreak and the pandemic before the vaccine. So you can protect yourself by doing all the things we suggest, such as masking and even double masking. “
This raises the question of why there is a delay in vaccinations.
“There are some challenges to get it out and so on. This cold weather has affected a little bit in terms of delivery. We have places canceling their clinics this week because they didn’t get the doses,” said Dr. Archer. “We haven’t been vaccinated yet and we may have to cancel some of our clinics next week. We’re following this very closely right now.”
