People with tiny hands they have been asking for a smaller smartphone for years, and in 2020, Apple finally delivered with iPhone 12 Mini. Except that it looks like Apple may not produce the smallest phone due to less stellar sales.

JP Morgan supply chain analyst William Yang cut production expectations for the iPhone 12 Mini by 11 million units, AppleInsider reported. Yang went on to say that Apple could even stop production altogether by the second quarter of this year. Yang also revised expectations for the standard iPhone 12 by 9 million units, while changing the figures for both the iPhone 12 Pro and the Pro Max by 2 million and 11 million units, respectively. Surprisingly, the iPhone 11 got a boost; Yang has adjusted its expectations for the 2019 flagship with 8 million units.

This seems to confirm recent reports that there is no high demand for the iPhone 12 Mini. In early January, Consumer Intelligence Research Partners launched a report who said that iPhone 12 Mini sales accounted for only 6% of total iPhone sales in October and November. Granted, the 12 Mini went on sale only in November, but again so did the 12 Pro Max, which accounted for about 20% of new iPhone sales in the same period. Another recent supply chain report from Nikkei Asia remarked that while the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max exceeded expectations and the iPhone 12 met them, the 12 Mini was “slow.”

Are a lot of the reasons why it could be. For starters, there is iPhone SE. While the SE is slightly larger than the 12 Mini model, it is also on the lower side for a phone and A$ 400, it’s even cheaper than the $ 700 Mini. Another problem is the battery. Its small size means that it packs only one 2,227 mAh battery, while the iPhone 12 uses a 2,815 mAh battery, and the 12 Pro Max has a 3,687 mAh battery. In Gizmodo’s review about iPhone 12 Mini, the size was correct, but the battery life was definitely our biggest pain point.

TThe 12 Mini may not sell well, but this doesn’t necessarily mean an eternal fatality for fans of more compact iPhones. The Rumors about the iPhone 13 spinning so far we strongly suggest that Apple will stick with the four-wheel drive model program this year. If the Mini line stays around, Apple may be able to find a way to build up a bigger battery or optimize software so that fans on small phones can get the iPhone experience they want. without sacrificing battery life. Except for this, there is always the iPhone SE and any potential future upgrades to this line. So dDespite this news, it still exists the hope, my tiny friends.
