Modern pickups It can be absolutely giant, but if you want a bigger pickup than all? This 2008 MXT International offered on Bring a Trailer dwarf a Ford Super Duty.

I am always looking for offers from Cars and offers and I bring a trailer for strange vehicles, and it definitely reaches the mark.

The 2000s were a wild time for truck and SUV buyers. Gas was cheap, and the market was full of huge, heavy vehicles, such as the Hummer H2 and Ford Excursion. Seeing an opportunity in the market, modders and companies began to convert commercial trucks as well Freightliners in pick-ups and SUVs.

Navistar International, known for its commercial trucks, decided to jump into this niche market with models transformed into pickups directly from the factory.

The International Extreme Truck (XT) series was launched in 2004 with the extreme commercial truck (CXT). This was followed in 2005 by Extremely leisure truck (RXT). Finally, in 2007 MXT International went into production as a swan song for the Extreme Truck series.

MXT means Extreme military truck or extreme truck, according to most sources. This final version was designed for off-road and comes with all-wheel drive and a front end that makes it look like the stone crawler is ready to start. MXT was based on DuraStar it is a medium-load chassis and is a brother of the MXT-MV armored transporter. DuraStar is often used for box trucks and school buses.

I like the idea that this truck should have been for off-road, because the spec sheet has some scary numbers. It weighs 10,500 pounds and has a towing capacity of about 15,500 pounds. Basically, this truck will tow anything that a regular driver’s license will allow.

But I’m not sure that something that weighs 10,500 pounds and is one foot wider than a Super Duty makes a good trail platform.

The practicality is somewhat hindered by its high beds, but the bed itself seems to be usable, with a chair. See the reflection of the person taking the photo, here:

Power is provided by an international 6.0-liter VT365 turbo-diesel V8, which produces 300 hp and 530 lb-ft of torque, sucking fuel from a 40-gallon tank. If this engine sounds familiar, it’s because it was also known as the Ford Power Stroke 6.0. In this application it produces a little less power than the Ford version.

The Bring Trailer ad says that the engine oil has been changed in preparation for sale and that the odometer reads about 76,000 miles.

Like other commercial trucks of the day that have been converted into pickups, the interior of the MXT is luxuriously decorated to hide its blue-collar origins. The seats are covered in leather and are electrically adjustable.

This truck is like a time capsule in excess of the Great Recession and I absolutely love it.

Despite the luxuries, you will not forget that you are in a commercial truck, although one with a lot of skin. The dashboard and doors will remind you what this truck really is. My International School Bus has a similar steering wheel.

So what is a monster like this worth? These trucks were priced at $ 89,500 in 2007 and do not appear to have depreciated as much. Even this truck was sold on the Bring a Trailer platform in 2018 for $76,666. The seller has only added 4,000 miles since then and the truck appears to have been used so lightly that the tires cracked.

The 2008 MXT international auction is for $ 40,000, with two days to go Get a trailer.
