The interim Secretary of Education reacts to his rejection in the Senate

Minutes after the Senate closed his appointment as Secretary of the Department of Education, Jesús González Cruz reiterated his commitment to the public service and assured that he would continue to offer “the maximum” of his abilities.

In written statements, Luis Fortuño Burset’s former secretary for corrections said he would continue to work so that “urgent and pressing changes that school communities are calling for are made.”

We recommend:

“For seventeen years I have worked in various fields of public service, providing the maximum in every position I have held and I work with integrity in every task assigned to the positions I have held,” the official said.

“The appointment given to me by the governor is a temporary one, to provide stability and continuity to a broad work agenda for our schools and for public education,” he added.

Once the appointment was suspended in the Senate, Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia assured that González Cruz would continue in office until he appointed his replacement in office.

“It is for all those (school communities) to whom we owe and which must always be our priority,” he concluded.
