THESSALONIKI – An employee of the tax office who was attacked with an ax at work almost seven months ago died, a Greek hospital administrator said on Sunday.

The 56-year-old employee, who had serious head injuries and was in a coma, died late on Saturday, Eleni Takouda, administrator of the private clinic “Blue Cross” in Thessaloniki, told the Associated Press on Sunday.

The unnamed employee was attacked when a 45-year-old man entered the tax office in the northwestern town of Kozani on July 16 without being subjected to any security checks, only a temperature check. its. Once inside, he took a small ax out of a plastic bag he was carrying and attacked the man and two women engaged in the head and face, shouting “Did you like this?” and “This is what you deserve,” according to witnesses.

It was not clear what the motive of the attacker was and it seems that he was not known to the victims.

A third woman was injured when she fell down a ladder while fleeing in panic. The man was detained by two employees who threw themselves at him. He was arrested that day and charged with attempted murder and aggravated multiple assaults.

The victim is survived by his wife and a 15-year-old son, according to local media.
