On Sunday, the Governing Council met with authorities in Santo Domingo Oeste to plan investments worth about $ 5,000 million, which are already in the 2021 budget, as well as to present the Municipal Development Plan.
Among the works announced by President Luis Abinader for this municipality is the complete completion of the regional general hospital Dr. Marcelino Vélez Santana, where the possibility of transforming the old area of the health center into a mother-child area is being evaluated.
Abinader stressed that the extension of the Santo Domingo metro from the new kilometer of the Duarte highway to Los Alcarrizos will also have a positive impact on this municipality.
He stressed that, in addition, there is an asphalting plan for the Minister of Public Works, Deligne Asención, including a parking area and the construction and improvement of sidewalks.
The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Mipymes (MICM) and Proindustria are working to promote the Santo Domingo Oeste Industrial Park (DISDO), so that new industries can be set up in this municipality, which will mean more jobs, according to Abinader.
At the meeting, the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewerage Corps (CAASD) promised to improve the Guajimía Gorge, which is a bad situation for Santo Domingo Oeste, by cleaning it up and then developing a housing plan.
“Santo Domingo Oeste is one of the main municipalities in the Dominican Republic, and we are bringing to the Board of Governors the priority work we need to do and plan for those that have been budgeted and executed for more than a year. For this reason, we come to meetings with the presence of all ministers so that they can find out about these facilities, in addition to monitoring each planned work “, said President Abinader.
The President assured that the work to be carried out in Santo Domingo Oeste will have an impact on the quality of life in traffic, the environment, health and the economy.
Industrial park
The director of the Center for Industrial Development and Competitiveness (Proindustria), Ulises Rodríguez, explained that the Santo Domingo Oeste industrial park will be the headquarters of the country’s industries to take them out of the urban center and avoid traffic congestion.
Rodriguez said the new park will generate about 5,000 direct jobs, adding that the Senate of the Republic has already approved its construction and that one of its goals is to generate foreign exchange.
“This is a long-standing park, with investments of about US $ 1 billion, because it has a big impact,” Rodriguez explained.
