The GOP loses several thousand in the NC after the riots in the Chapter

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) – Following death riots in the US Chapter last week, many people severed ties with the Republican Party, including former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

In North Carolina, the GOP has lost several thousand people since last Wednesday’s attack.

According to the State Electoral Committee, 2,879 people left the Republican Party of North Carolina on January 6-11.

More than 2,400 of these people went unaffiliated, 262 joining the Democratic Party.

Predictably, Wake County had the most voters who left the GOP, 586 people changed their affiliation.

There were quite a few people who joined the GOP after January 6, with 742 people moving from unaffiliated, constitutional, democratic or libertarian to Republican.

So, in that six-day period, Republicans had a net loss of 2,137 registered voters in North Carolina.

On the democratic side, the change in party affiliation is not as dramatic, although the party has suffered a net loss.

Between January 6-11, 864 Democrats changed their affiliation. However, 722 voters switched from various parties to the Democratic Party, including 440 unaffiliated voters. This represents a net loss of 142 voters.
