The Google update for Android phones will ping you text messages as you go

Have you ever accidentally entered someone while texting?

Google is launching a feature to help Android users who have this problem and is appropriately called “Heads Up”.

This feature is being tested on the beta version of Google Digital Wellbeing.

You can also use this app to track your smartphone usage and make sure you don’t use it too much.

The Heads Up feature will work by sending you a notification if you can feel like you’re going with your smartphone unlocked.

It will warn users to be aware of their surroundings.

The warning may appear in the form of a ping noise if the phone is not silent.

It is also expected to lift if you go jogging or running.

The Google support page explains: “The app uses motion sensors in the phone to detect movement to see if it’s moving or not, while the location is used to tell if it’s moving indoors or outdoors.”

You do not need to share location data to use the feature.

If you grant location permissions, the feature may take into account whether you are indoors or outdoors.

Google added: “While we’ve tested this feature to be as accurate as possible, don’t rely solely on this feature to keep it safe.

“Please always use the best judgment and use this feature as an easy reminder when you feel distracted while walking.”

It is not yet clear when Heads Up could be released for all Android users.

To use Heads Up right now, you can join the beta program in the Digital Wellbeing app.
