In a Friday announcement, Google said its new design will feel “a little more pockety and bouncier.” Color will be easy to use so important information can be highlighted without distraction
“Rethinking visual design for something like Search is really complex,” Google designer Aileen Cheng said in a blog post.
“This is especially true given how much Google Search has evolved. We do not only organize web information, but all the information in the world. ‘
The team’s goal was to simplify, not clutter the screen or complicate the search experience.
“We want to let the search results shine, allowing people to focus on information instead of the design elements around them,” she added.

The text in the new Google search engine design will be larger and bolder, with more Google fonts used throughout.
Cheng calls the new look “a breath of fresh air!”
The text will be easier to read, with bolder fonts and more text for results and section titles, and more Google-own fonts will be incorporated.
“It was important to bring consistency when and how we use search fonts, which also helps people analyze information more efficiently,” Cheng said.
Previous iterations of the redesign have experienced both bold colors and muted tones, she said.
Finally, the design team decided to center the content and images on a clean, shadow-free white background.
In addition to drawing attention to relevant information, she said, “And she looks optimistic.”
The designers used the roundness of the Google name and logo as a launching point, rounding the edges of the knowledge panels and part of an image or a video carousel.

Google designer Alexa Cheng says the team was inspired by the roundness of the Google logo, calling it “part of our DNA.”
“This form is already part of our DNA. Just look at the search bar or the magnifying glass, ”Cheng said.
In January 2020, Google launched one of the biggest changes to the way it displays search results: color overlays were removed, and “favicons,” small branded icons, were used to identify organic hits.
The resulting design made it much more difficult to differentiate between organic results and ads.
After an almost universal shout, the company returned to the board.
“While early desktop testing has been positive, we always incorporate feedback from our users,” Google said at the time.
