The giants signing Adoree ‘Jackson in the NFL free agent splash

The Giants’ Christmas continued on Monday, with another big explosion in the free agency.

Big Blue has reached an agreement with defender Adoree ‘Jackson, a source confirmed, filling a big hole in the team’s list. The deal is for three years and $ 39 million, with $ 26.5 million guaranteed, according to a source.

Jackson visited the Giants from Sunday to Monday, before agreeing to the deal. The Giants players made a recruitment effort. The safety of giants Logan Ryan, a former teammate of Jackson from Tennessee, even flew to take him to dinner on Sunday night. Jabrill Peppers also went on Twitter to recruit Jackson.

The 25-year-old was released by the Titans last week after four seasons. They recruited him in the first round of USC in 2017. Jackson gives the Giants a starter alongside James Bradberry, something they lacked last season. Jackson was scheduled to visit the Eagles Monday night, but canceled that visit when the Giants shut him down.

The move comes two days after the Giants signed Kenny Golladay, who received a four-year, $ 72 million receiver. Golladay was considered the best free receiver. They also signed defensive lineman Leonard Williams for a three-year, $ 63 million contract to keep him.

The giants have spent about $ 123 million in guaranteed money in the last week. This only targets the Patriots and Cowboys in free agency spending. The Giants show the urgency to improve the list after going 6-10 last year and finishing second in a weak NFC East.

Jackson received a $ 13.5 million signing bonus and will receive $ 16 million in his first year. The contract can reach $ 44.5 million if it receives incentives.

It was a little surprising that Jackson arrived on the market. The Titans took their fifth-year option for 2021, but released it a week before the salary was guaranteed. This move saved them $ 10 million in the salary cap. Tennessee has added former Giants defender Janoris Jenkins.

Jackson has started 41 games in the last four years for the Titans. A knee injury forced him to miss the first 13 games last year. He returned for the last three games of the regular season and for Tennessee’s playoff loss to the Ravens. He has two career interceptions, 33 deflections, three forced kicks and two rebounds. Jackson can return both blows and blows.

Pro Football Focus ranked him the eighth best corner defender out of 115 in 2019, with a score of 79.9. They had him on the 27th place out of 112 turns in 2018, with a score of 73.0. He didn’t play enough to qualify last season.

The Giants signed Bradberry for a three-year, $ 45 million contract with $ 32 million guaranteed a year ago in a free agency. Bradberry played very well and was selected for the Pro Bowl. The giants struggled to find a corner defender to play in front of him.

The plan was for former first-round coach DeAndre Baker to start, but he was arrested and then cut. Another draft, Sam Beal, gave up the season. Corey Ballentine, Isaac Yiadom, Ryan Lewis and Julian Love got to start, but none were the answer.
