The Giants cut receiver Da’Mari Scott and defensive end Shakial Taylor, two players who exercised the COVID-19 waiver clause last season.
Scott had two catches in five games for the Giants in 2019. The Giants claimed Taylor to drop the Broncos last July, but gave up before ever entering the training camp.
Under the agreement between the NFL and the Players Association, players who have opted for 2020 and received a $ 150,000 scholarship must repay that cash advance if they are released in 2021. Players who have been deemed high-risk to contract COVID-19 – like the Giants left Nate Solder – and received a $ 350,000 scholarship, they don’t have to pay the money back.
