The general manager of a plan that produced 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine fell by 51% in compensation in 2020, according to a report by The Washington Post.
Emergent Biosolutions CEO Robert Kramer received $ 5.6 million in 2020, according to a public file reviewed by the Post on Friday.
The company’s executive received a salary of $ 893,000, $ 1.4 million from stock options, $ 2.1 million from shares and a $ 1.2 million bonus, according to the publication.
According to the document, the company increased Kramer’s salary after the company’s production company expanded and the CEO responded to the pandemic.
The company also reported a 41% increase in revenue in 2020. Kramer became the company’s chief executive in 2019 and has been with the company since 2012, according to the newspaper.
Emergent saw this increase last year, mainly due to a federal contract that awarded the company $ 628 million to help fight the coronavirus pandemic, according to the newspaper.
However, the Post mentioned that the bonuses came before The company’s Maryland plant has contaminated 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
In late March, vaccine production issues at the Emergent plant became public after Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine was contaminated with AstraZeneca vaccine ingredients, according to the Post.
AstraZeneca materials have been completely moved out of the unit, and Johnson & Johnson is overseeing the plant.
The White House warned on Friday that states would receive a substantially lower amount of Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the coming weeks as a result of the accident.
The New York Times earlier this week reported a high risk of cross-contamination found in the audits of the installation last year. Staff were also reported to have been trained.
