The former pharmacist is guilty of damaging the COVID-19 vaccine

A former Wisconsin pharmacist has pleaded guilty to breaking dozens of doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

Steven Brandenburg, 46, who believed the vaccine would move human DNA, was charged in January with two counts of attempted counterfeiting of consumer goods and faces up to 10 years in prison.

He pleaded guilty to both charges in federal court on Tuesday.

Brandenburg was working at Grafton Aurora Medical Center when he left 50 ampoules of the Moderna vaccine without refrigeration for 12 hours in December, authorities said.

The vials contained approximately 570 doses of vaccine. Brandenburg was later fired.

The pharmacist allegedly confessed to the employees that he wanted to destroy the vaccine because he thought it was unsafe.

Medical experts say there is no evidence that the COVID-19 vaccine is harmful.
