The former NJ basketball player allegedly killed a woman at the Mexican nightclub

A former New Jersey star athlete who played basketball at Rutgers University has been arrested for allegedly killing a woman employed at a popular nightclub in Mexico, according to a report.

Logan Kelley, 26, is accused of crawling behind Isis Atalia Montoya, 19, and cut his neck with a four- to six-inch folding knife at Adelita Bar in The North Zone of Tijuana on Wednesday, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Police in Tijuana arrested Kelley after security officers detained him at the bar. Montoya – an employee of Adelita – died on the spot. Police also recovered the murder weapon.

The unit describes itself as “the most traditional and famous men’s club in Tijuana, since 1962” on social networks.

Local Mexican media reported that Kelley allegedly killed Montoya – a married mother of a 3-year-old boy – in the corridor of an adjacent motel that operates with the nightclub.

The murder was captured on video.

A man who appears to be Kelley wearing a face mask walks behind Montoya, puts his arm around her neck, stabs her and then throws her to the ground before fleeing, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
