Former Aguadilla mayor Yanitsia Irizarry called the current mayor, Julio Roldán, false, saying the municipality had incurred spending on luxuries purchased by his predecessors, from equipment for a private gym to a shower in the executive’s office.
“I am saddened by the new mayor’s ignorance about municipal property and facilities. The bathtub / shower installed in the town hall bathroom is not municipal property, it was bought and paid for from private funds from this server. It was NOT invested. No money from municipal funds.” , Irizarry said in written statements.
In an interview with NotiUno 630, Roldán explained that “on the third floor of the mayor’s annex there is $ 65,000 in weightlifting equipment, a private gym of the former mayor that was not used, and now that the cars will be moved to the rink for the pleasure of the people of Aguadilla. The town hall has a spectacular, luxurious shower that was created by the former mayor … a lot of waste of money. “
Regarding the gym of former mayor Carlos Méndez, Irizarry said that “it is a regulated facility as a marginal benefit for all employees in the Municipality of Aguadilla and NOT for the former mayor. It is up to the new mayor to eliminate the respective benefit established for more than 4 years for the municipal employees ”.
