The Florida fugitive was caught hiding in Ohio with his two young daughters

CLEVELAND – A fugitive from Florida wanted for beating a 28-year-old man with a key was captured in Ohio, where he was found hiding with his two 6-year-old daughters.

The man, Ramon Medina Santiago, was wanted in Lee County, Florida, for an attack that took place on January 9th.

Authorities say Santiago and others were riding motorcycles and “causing disturbances to other drivers.” When one of the drivers tried to get away from the group, Santiago and the group allegedly hit him with a key and their headphones.

People nearby stopped the assault, and Santiago and the others left.

Police later identified Santiago as a suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued for him on Wednesday, authorities said. The American marshals found out that he fled to Ohio with his two daughters and contacted the members of the working group for violent refugees in northern Ohio. Officers here immediately began searching for Santiago, and within hours he was captured at Block 2100 on Cleveland’s West Boulevard.

Santiago had his 6-year-old twin daughters with him. They were handed over to children’s services in Cuyahoga County and then sent back to the Florida family.

“Not only are we excited to have this violent and reckless fugitive from the streets, but to safely recover the two girls is a win-win for everyone involved. “I am grateful to the officers in Florida and the teams here in Ohio for their dedication to the missions of arresting the fugitives and recovering the endangered children,” said US Marshal Pete Elliott.
