An Air Canada Boeing 737 Max ferry to Montreal was diverted to Arizona earlier this week due to an engine problem, the airline said Friday.

Pilots on Air Canada Flight 2358 received an engine alert on Tuesday shortly after takeoff from Marana, Arizona, the airline said. The carrier stored 737 Max planes there after the planes were grounded worldwide in March 2019, after two fatal accidents.

“As part of normal operating procedures in such situations, we decided to shut down an engine,” and was redirected to Tucson, Air Canada said. The flight was carrying three crew members and no passengers. The plane stays in Tucson.

Boeing declined to comment and asked the airline questions.

The Belgian aviation website Aviation24.be said the plane had a “low pressure hydraulic indication”. Air Canada did not immediately respond to the additional request for comment.

US authorities lifted the ban on planes last month after Boeing modified the software involved in both crashes and addressed other concerns. Canadian officials approved the design changes to the planes last week.
