Last year Blizzard held a poll to determine what kind of walk World of Warcraft the players wanted it as a special community mount. I chose the Old Wanderer, and now that choice has borne fruit or, in this case, a damn whole tree, free now for all who own it. Shadowlands expansion.

The Wandering Ancient is an old and wise tree that has slowly trodden on various Azerotic lands since the game’s launch. It’s an iconic beast, which is why it beat the competitors like a slimy cat and a colorful caterpillar in last year’s fan vote. Now the beast covered in bark is in play, available for free in the mounting tab of anyone who owns it Shadowlands, as well as anyone purchasing the expansion in the future.

The interesting thing about Wandering Ancient, apart from its massive size, is that its leaves change colors with the seasons, giving players a reason to break it all year round. Unfortunately it doesn’t fly, but that makes sense. If the trees could fly, there would be none on earth.

However, my favorite feature from Wandering Ancient is the caterpillar behind my player character, a sign to the community mountain that could have been.
