new York. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Saturday recommended that the use of one of Peloton’s treadmills be stopped “immediately” because it poses a risk to children after dozens of reports of accidents and deaths of a minor.
In a tweet posted today, CPSC calls for the immediate cessation of the Peloton’s Tread + treadmill in homes with young children. This treadmill is the most expensive of the two sold by the exercise brand and has a price that exceeds 4,000 dollars.
Given the numerous reports of children being caught, trapped and dragged under the back roll of the product, CPSC urges consumers with children at home not to use the product immediately. The video above demonstrates the danger that Tread + poses to children.

The Federal Agency for Consumer Protection has received 39 reports of treadmill accidents and the death of a child.
The little ones risk being caught between the rotating belt and the ground, and this can cause serious injuries or even death, according to the agency.

The consumer’s opinion comes after Peloton himself announced a few weeks ago that a child died as a result of an accident with Peloton Tread +.
“CPSC considers that Peloton Tread + presents a serious risk of abrasion, fractures or death for children. Given the numerous reports of children being caught and trapped under the back belt, the CPSC urges consumers with children at home to stop using it immediately, ”the statement said.
Peloton, whose stock price has tripled in the last year, has become almost a religion for its members who follow the virtual routine through a large monitor and whose use became popular during the pandemic.
