The fear of being shot generates fear in the tourist area of Nayarit

Compostela.— After a confrontation between elements of the Mexican army and armed civilians in Compostela, Nayarit, three alleged criminals were arrested, including a subject nicknamed El M3, an alleged assassin of the Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) cartel.

During the armed action, a soldier was wounded and several high-powered weapons were seized, including rocket launchers, grenades and machine guns, security sources reported.

Since Friday night, several army teams have begun moving through the areas around Rincón de Guayabitos beach (a crowded resort on the Riviera Nayarit) and have limited access through gaps and side roads to the site.

Yesterday morning, after 8:00, an operation was carried out in an alleged safe house located on a hill near the federal highway 200 and, when they met armed men traveling in several vehicles, the confrontation began and a pursuit that entered the city.

The constant gunfire, which was heard practically all over the city, caused fear among the tourists who were still staying in their rooms, so they closed and went safely, while those who were already on the beach, puzzled, they fled to cover themselves in closed places, because they did not locate where the detonations were heard from. After receiving various reports about what happened, several elements from the secretariats of National Defense (Sedena), Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), as well as the National Guard and the municipal police went to the scene.

Several videos have started circulating through social networks in which the detonations are heard and the military deployment is observed.

A recording was also released, probably from the military, in which he reported the capture of the alleged killer known as El M3.

In the image you can see the military with a subject dressed in black, with a tactical vest and who is asked his name, his pseudonym, the cartel to which he belongs and his position.

The man claimed that his name was Erick Joel del Toro López, who was El M3, who belonged to the CJNG and was a hit man. Although a soldier asked him if he was a hit man or a market leader, the man denied this and later read his rights.

During the confrontation, the federal highway 200, at the intersection with Los Ayala, remained closed, which generated long lines of vehicles.

In the afternoon, the governor of the state, Antonio Echevarría García, acknowledged the work carried out by the Armed Forces in the state, through a message on social networks.

“This morning, in the Guayabitos area, Compostela, a criminal group attacked elements of the army, which immediately rejected the aggression. On behalf of the state government, we support the prompt response of our armed forces to restore order in the area and call on society to remain calm.
