The FDA recalls 11,000 ice cream tubs containing metal parts

Considering life in 2021 has been so far characterized by chaos and uncertainty that consumes everything, you may feel compelled to search relief in putting in a beautiful box of delicious ice cream. But this year, even ice cream is trying to kill you.

Two ice cream products from Weis Markets could be full of hazardous materials: 11,000 containers of the company’s products currently on the market come with a choking hazard warning due to “metal filling equipment parts” embedded in its garments, according to a The FDA recommendation was released earlier this month.

If you are a fan of the brand, you should probably throw away any container with its products, even if you think you may have surrounded the danger for some reason. Here’s what you need to know about recall.

11,000 containers distributed over seven states are affected

According to the FDA warning, two flavors of ice cream are wrapped in dirt, listed by the agency below:

  • 10,869 containers of Weis quality ice cream and ice cream cookies (48 oz.)
  • 502 bulk containers of Klein’s Vanilla Dairy ice cream (3 gallons)

As an agency notes, ice cream products are “contaminated with foreign materials” and one person found “an intact piece of metal equipment ”in their ice cream box. Yikes.

Tthe company issued a warning about the two products in January 8, but adding a slight wrinkle to the situation are they they were each sold in various stores. Cookies and cream boxes were distributed to “197 Weis Markets stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, and West Virginia, ”according to the FDA. Klein’s Vanilla bulk ice cream was distributed to only one store in New York it has since been removed from sale.

Fortunately, they only existed a report about a customer who faces a whimsical piece of metal in their ice cream, although the thought of stumbling over something that can slice in your mouth certainly gives you some, uh, to think about.

How to know if your ice cream is affected

Are useful clues to inform you whether you are about to buy or bite contaminated ice cream. Cream cookies and containers come in 48 oz. packaging with an expiry date of 28 October 2021 (written on the bottom of the container) and was originally distributed to stores on 29 October 2020. Whereas vanilla ice cream has already been removed from a single retail location in New York State, the cost is clear in terms of additional sales. If any New Yorker is afraid of those affected ice cream could be lurking in their freezer, you can identify the box by the code stamp: 0302.

The additional ice cream products distributed by the company in October last year were stored in a warehouse and were not put up for sale. In the meantime, consider buying your ice cream from a lot of other fine product suppliers that are currently on the market.
