Hyun Jung Grant’s son, who was one of eight people who died in a shooting at the spas in Georgia this week, admitted on Friday that he questions the motive of Robert Aaron Long’s suspect for his mother and other victims to kill.
Randy Park, Grant’s 23-year-old son, stated in an interview with ABC News that Long’s statement that he was allegedly motivated to shoot at three Atlanta spas on Tuesday because of a sex addiction was false. to him.
‘I believe that two of the locations are next to each other in the street and the [other] one was in another province … Like a long drive. If you blame sex addiction, but you choose to target Asian locations specifically and the victims are mostly of Asian descent, then I can’t help but… ask, “Is that right?” Park told ABC News. “No of course not.”
Long, who was arrested on Wednesday and charged with murder in connection with the incident, denied that the attacks were racially motivated. He admitted that he chose to target the spas because they were a “temptation” to his alleged “sex addiction.”
Tuesday’s shootings were the latest in an increase in violence against Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. Park noted that he had been advised not to speak up about the situation, but said he felt a duty to acknowledge the ongoing violence.
“How many years has it been and these things are still happening,” he said. “It’s difficult and I feel I have a responsibility to talk about this. So even if there is a backlash, I understand why, but I think it could indicate some kind of tolerance for what is happening, and that is unacceptable. “
