The executive director of the Motorways and Transport Authority, who had been reappointed by Pierluisi, resigns

The executive director of the Highways and Transports Authority (ACT), Rosana Aguilar, presented her resignation letter today, which enters into force on December 31st.

The information has been confirmed to The new day by Sheila Angleró, press officer for the elected governor, Pedro Pierluisi.

“Yes, he resigned for personal reasons,” Angleró said.

Aguilar was to remain ACT director under Pierluisi, and the elected governor had already introduced her as part of his cabinet at a December 7 press conference.

However, Aguilar has been heavily criticized by Bayamón Mayor Ramón Luis Rivera Cruz, who is leading the transitional government hearings.

In the Dec. 10 hearings, Rivera Cruz asked the ACT director for the slowness in which they processed contracts to use $ 169 million available in federal government emergency funds for improvements to the Urban Train, whose only route stretches from Santurce the Bayamon.

In turn, Pierluisi indicated in written expressions that “I received the resignation of the engineer Rosana Aguilar from her position and her appointment as director of the Highways Authority. I appreciate the service offered by Puerto Rico. Together with the designated secretary of the Department of Transport and Public Works, engineer Eileen Vélez, I will identify and appoint a person in the coming days ”.
