Between The Wizard, Castlevania, and the future assassin’s Creed and resident Evil TV shows that are currently in production, Netflix has become a focus of content based on popular video game franchises. Now, a new rumor suggests that this trend could continue again with a new series centered around one of the most iconic properties of games.
A new report stated that Netflix is seeking partnerships with Bethesda to create a new series based on Ages Scrolls video game series. It first started in 1994, Ages Scrolls was one of Bethesda ‘s oldest franchises with outstanding entries in the main series, inclusive Morrow, Oblivion, and Skyrim. When it comes to what the show would entail, it would be from the live-action variety. It is also said that Netflix wants this show to be as massive as The Wizard if it were to be realized.
As for where the rumor comes from, it comes through a single Daniel Ritchtman. In the past, Ritchtman has proven to be a fairly reliable source and has won awards related to the film and television industry. So, although you should definitely take this relationship with the usual grain of salt, it could very well be valid.
As for how Bethesda might approach such a situation, well, there’s a track record that shows they might be willing to play ball with Netflix. For those who don’t remember, Bethesda actually announced in 2020 that it is working with Amazon to create a TV series based on the other major franchise, Fall out. While it remains to be seen if the publishing house would like to work with two separate streaming companies to create TV shows simultaneously, the previous move shows that it is at least interested in exploring the realm of TV a little more.
Obviously, there is no confirmation that any of this is happening yet, but if this is done, imagine that we will hear more officially from Bethesda or Netflix in the future. Until then, if you want to keep up with all the other dedicated coverage Ages Scrolls, you can do this by watching our hub right here.
