The Dominican Republic’s cabinet of tourism, headed by Minister David Collado, reported on Monday afternoon that the The government will provide American tourists with antigen tests to diagnose Covid-19.
The test will be covered at no cost by health insurance provided by the Dominican government, Collado explained at a news conference.
“We guarantee American tourists coming to the Dominican Republic that they will receive the antigen test free of charge for the next 60 days”, said the tourism minister.
Collado emphasized that this puts the country at the top of the countries in the region to continue to fight for the responsible tourism recovery and that all these efforts are made in view of the 500,000 Dominicans working in this sector.
“Over the past 72 hours, all institutions, the private sector, clinics and laboratories have worked to present a concrete plan that can address these situations,” explains the Minister of Tourism.
Collado stressed that the Dominican Republic is ready to receive tourists from countries that require PCR testing, especially the United States, which is the main source of tourists.
The technical vice minister of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), Jacqueline Mora, reported that about 400,000 tests are awarded to hotels.
