The Dolphins trade for the first round of 2020, on Isaiah Wilson

The Miami Dolphins have not finished their efforts to update the offensive line, which is news that should not come as a surprise to anyone who saw the Miami trench play in 2020. But this is a surprise, even for a dolphin a team that is desperate to create a firm identity up front. The Miami Dolphins, according to several reports, provided an exchange for the offensive attack in round 1, 2020, Isaiah Wilson. Wilson, who was recruited by the Tennessee Titans with option no. 29 in the NFL 2020 draft, endured a rookie season in 2020, which apparently saw him in constant conflict with the league’s COVID-19 protocols before finally landing on the Non-Football Disease List.

The Dolphins will take a small risk with the move to bring Wilson into the picture, given that Wilson struggled to eliminate discipline on the field during his debut season – but the cost associated with this move is close to zero. The Dolphins will send a draft pick in the 7th round in 2021 to Tennessee for Wilson and a 2022 choice of the 7th round titanium project; which means that Miami is actually funding a 7th round draft pick for 12 months for a chance to have a breakthrough with Wilson, who is clearly physically talented and has the potential to be an absolute mauler up front.

Wilson, who played just four rookie moments last season, was a University of Georgia player and teamed up with Andrew Thomas to give the Bulldogs one of the best rush attacks in all of college football.

It will now be up to Brian Flores and the rest of the Dolphins staff to connect with Wilson and help push him toward a more disciplined approach to the game. And if Miami can do that, then this will be a reward worth the risk for the Miami Dolphins.
