The DeSantis government extends the state of emergency for the COVID-19 pandemic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Ron DeSantis government extended on Tuesday for another 60 days the state of emergency for the coronavirus pandemic.

“As Florida recovers and revives its economy, I pledge to provide all available resources to help Floridians and local communities with their efforts,” Tuesday’s order said.

The extension kept Jared Moskowitz, director of the Emergency Management Division, as the coordinator of the state’s response to the pandemic.

With an initial release issued on March 9, DeSantis orders allowed the governor to direct funds where needed for supplies, equipment and personnel, allow out-of-state health professionals to practice in Florida, and allow pharmacists to prescribe emergency reserves until at 30 days of prescription drugs.

An earlier extension was issued on November 3.
