The death toll from coronavirus is rising in Italy

Another 305 people died of coronavirus in Italy on Sunday, the same day the country accompanied its European neighbors in a massive vaccination campaign.

In addition, another 8,913 people tested positive for the disease on the same day, much less than in recent days. However, fewer tests were performed due to the Christmas holiday.

Italy is the country in Europe that has the most deaths due to COVID-19, with 71,925, but experts assume that the real figure is much higher due to undetected cases and lack of diagnostic tests.

On Sunday, Italy began applying the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to the public, primarily medical workers who have been at the forefront of the fight against the virus.
