Dominican rock is in mourning with the premature departure on Tuesday of one of its exponents, Homero Guerrero, musician and producer of the national alternative art scene. He was 49 years old.
Homero has been bassist in several groups, including “Los Fulanos” and “Machacao”. The latter was his most eclectic and personal project, being both a composer and arranger there.
Guerrero was so diverse for the stage that he also created and produced the events “Rock LTD” (music competitions that referred to the iconic figure of Luis Terror Días) and “Rock Camp”, aimed at children and adolescents, among others. . .
Manager, stage director, entrepreneur, owner of legendary venues such as “Bar H” and “Ye Old Homero”; cultural manager and main character in projects aimed at disseminating and growing rock, alternative music and the causes of social impact.
He has also been instrumental in dozens of musical projects, such as that of his friend and life brother Pavel Núñez, whom he joined for an entire history.
Homerito leaves great pain and emptiness in many who, today after his departure, expressed their regrets and anecdotes through social networks.
This is the case of the director Ernesto Alemany, who said the following: “Homerito always appeared … Every time a cause needed his talent and his dedication he came and put himself in order without asking anything. We were friends from the days of Odeon and the Olympics where we were a group and he was a legend, that was more than 30 years ago. I can’t believe it, see you later my madman “.
Likewise, Pavel Núñez expressed his feelings in a verse: “Your death, because I know that you listen to me, I want you to know that I refuse to participate in your celebration, not because I see something wrong in you, but because I am irreverently and I don’t like to take off my hat in the face of the insignificant practice of wearing bodies, because you know that even if you take my loves, I will return your songs. Because everything that hurt me I turned into a song, and your death will not be the exception “.
Homer’s departure took place on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in the morning, after he presented a critical and ascending image as a result of an supraventricular tachycardia and other complications that culminated in his life.
He leaves behind a wife, two daughters and an entire artistic community surrounded by sadness and in a “See you later, Homer.”
His body is covered at Blandino Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30.
